Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel conveyed that true respect for martyrs would be demonstrated by embracing the spirit of the constitution and the republic, and by taking proactive steps to actualize the shared aspirations for sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.

In a message marking Martyr Day 2080, President Paudel underscored the importance of playing significant roles collectively to materialize the dreams of the martyrs. He acknowledged that the country has achieved the status of a federal democratic republic due to the unwavering dedication of the martyrs.

The constitution, envisioning a federal democratic republic, aims to deliver justice to the vulnerable and economic opportunities to the disadvantaged, while upholding political, economic, social, religious, and cultural freedoms.

President Paudel paid homage to four specific martyrs – Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha – along with all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of citizen freedom, the establishment of democracy, and the protection of nationality.
